Safety switch with guard locking CTA-BR

Your advantages

  • Safety switch with guard locking and guard lock monitoring
  • Series connection of up to 20 safety switches possible
  • Safety category 4 and PL e in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1
  • Mounting compatible with existing safety switches
  • Retrofittable escape release for more flexibility for conversions or retrofitting

Function

The CTA safety switch combines the proven principle of operation of electromechanical safety switches with guard locking with modern transponder coded safety engineering.
Thanks to transponder technology, even a single CTA achieves Category 4 / PL e in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 without additional fault exclusion and meets all the requirements of EN ISO 14119. It is ideal for applications where a high performance level and a high locking force are required.

Versatile in use

The CTA reliably secures safety doors and flaps on machines and systems. The CTA is suitable for even the harshest and dirtiest environments. Thanks to the integrated guard locking and guard lock monitoring, it can be used for both process and personal protection.
The very slim design allows space-saving mounting on the safety guards. With a locking force of up to 8000 N, the CTA effectively prevents safety doors from being opened.
The very robust metal housing with metal head and the high degree of protection IP 65 / IP 67 / IP 69 / IP 69K make the CTA an all-rounder for almost any industrial use.

Mounting; assembly and function

The CTA consists of two components, a safety switch and a separate actuator. During mounting; assembly, the safety switch is attached to the fixed part, the actuator to the movable guards and the CTA can be approached from four directions.
The head is equipped with an integrated funnel to facilitate insertion of the actuator. This is particularly advantageous in the case of unstable door constructions and door readjustment. When the guard is closed, the actuator inserts into the head of the safety switch.
If the transponder chip built into the actuator is detected and the guard locking is actuated, the safety outputs are switched on. Thanks to the integrated prevention of inadvertent locking position (faulty closure protection), accidental activation of the safety outputs is prevented if the actuator is not fully inserted into the head.

BR system family

In the BR version, up to 20 CTA safety switches or other EUCHNER products belonging to the BR system family can be connected in series. There are 2 different concepts for wiring:
Series connection in the control cabinet:
The wiring takes place in the control cabinet. All information about the status of the individual CTAs can be forwarded directly to the control system.
Series connection in the field:
For field wiring, EUCHNER offers the option of using M12 plugs and Y-distributors to connect several CTAs together.
A passive distribution module can also be used instead of the Y plug connectors(s). With this device, all safety and status signals are collected in the field and passed on to the control system via a single cable.
